“The Spring Offensive”

Posted on: March 27th, 2012 by admin

well… you should know what we mean by that, now, shouldn’t you!

and Hello once again, dear readers, incoherant alcoholics, functioning depressives and debauched criminal drug addicts. sorry. we meant politicans.

who gives a shit about the Budget? and if you do, what the fuck were you expecting? a kiss before a fist got rammed in  your arse?

no. celebrate instead, because nothing you do will have an effect on those cocooned tits in parliament! we’re fine, of course, here on the Top Shelf – we are already millionaires. in fact, we own the Bank of England. no, really! slipped in the last bid on ebay and won, you know! what luck! to be fair, it was going for a song… which neatly brings us to our next point. not that we would wish to ram it down your throats, but if you like that kind of treatment, then here’s where to find us for the rest of April:

19th April: ‘Madame Mephisto’ Book Launch

26th April: Blind Tiger Gypsy Duo

27th & 28th April: The Candlelight Club

March’s Monstrosities

Posted on: March 12th, 2012 by admin

so it’s March…

is it any better? usually not. It is really good in Melbourne, though! *Gloat*

Well, if it helps, Top Shelf Jazz will be seeing out the month of St. David & St. Patrick (funnily, both Welshmen, i learn. and a fat lot of difference that made…) by contributing to your drinking reveries in Bristol and London.

Pay attention to the calendar, dear reader, and make a note of where and when to spend your money (wisely at the bar)!

February’s Felonies

Posted on: February 1st, 2012 by admin

Dear Reader…

February is, simply put, a shite month here in grey old Blighty and so we urge you to sign any current petitions to the government to have this month (and January) banned from existence. Until such time, of course, the winter gloom can be lifted by attending the following events wherein Top Shelf Jazz will bring you happiness, joy and sin!!

Timing not being an important issue in the Top Shelf Band, we thought we’d post in order of importance….

This here is the biggie for the Month – 18th February 2012:

“St. Valentine’s Day Massacre” at The Antelope, Tooting

Other highlights for February include….

10th February 2012: The Jamboree

with The Late Night Shop Cabaret!!

11th February 2012: The Nightjar

16th February 2012: Gypsy Swing Duo in Filthy MacNasty’s

17th February 2012: GypsSwing Trio in The Lost Society

Enjoy!

Time Marches On!

Posted on: January 11th, 2012 by admin

And so we find ourselves in Next Year. according to some, the last year before the world explodes or something the like. oh.. well… it’s not like we don’t deserve it!

don’t face it sober, we say! keep an eye on the calendar and come and celebrate our impending doom and double-dip economy with us in the Top Shelf gutter!

We thought “Double Dip” meant something entirely different, of course… imagine our surprise!

New Year’s Eve 2011…

Posted on: December 15th, 2011 by admin

NYE 2011…

Top Shelf Jazz lend their immoral support once again to the war effort, headlining the

Blitz Party  NYE War Office Special

and guiding in the New Year with their historically inaccurate rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

DRINK FOR VICTORY!

(please stamp your ration cards responsibly)

…And to warm up before their main ev’nsong,

Top Shelf Jazz will be opening the proceedings at the very decadent

White Mink’s NYE Electro Swing Speakeasy!

December’s Indecencies…

Posted on: November 26th, 2011 by admin

Now, look here! Christmas is a rotten time of year, what with all this goodwill and pretending to like your friends and family long enough not to have a row under the same roof during the Queen’s televised Christmas address to her beloved subjects and such. But we here on the Top Shelf believe Christmas isn’t Christmas unless it is Filthy….

here are some notable dates in the yuletide season of 2011:

27th November: The Top Shelf Jazz Gypsy Trio play the Sunday “Tea Time” at The Selirk
2nd December:    The Old Duke, Bristol
8th December:     The Varsity Rugby Match, Twickenham, with Jazz FM, no less!
9th December:     The Forge, Camden, music from 8pm
9th December:     as if that wasn’t enough for one evening, come and get seasick with the band at Shoreleave
10th December:   simply paradise – The Nightjar speakeasy
14th December:   The very famous Cakewalk Cafe at Passing Clouds
17th December:   “Blitzmas” at the Attic, the Full Moon Backpackers in Bristol
22nd December: The Top Shelf Jazz Gypsy Trio play in the newly opened Battersea Mess & Music Hall
23rd December:  Speakeasy filth, below Cardiff’s newly opened Bunkhouse, the Halfpenny Theatre
